4 Cool Road Trip Destinations to Go With Your Family

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Road trips with your family are super fun especially if it is well planned. One of the most challenging parts of organising one is picking a destination that will suit each and every one of your family members. Which means you will need something suitable for the kids, the young teenagers and the parents.

Of course, as your car partner, we have listed down our top 4 cool destinations outside of KL (but still a drive away) that you can bring your family to.

  • Legoland, Johor Bahru

It’s no secret that Legoland is probably one of the hottest family destinations in Malaysia at the moment. Kids and parents get to build anything they can imagine out of life-size Legos and the more thrilling adults get to ride on roller-coaster and plunge down their tropical jungle. They even have their own waterpark.

If you’re into cute things, you can even head to Sanrio Hello Kitty town which is just nearby. From KL to Johor Bahru is pretty much a straight route. Legoland entrance price is about RM119 for children but you can get it for under RM100 if you book with Klook.

  • Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh

Not too keen on the 4-hours’ drive to Johor? Why not enjoy a theme park in Ipoh instead and cut your driving time by half. Lost World of Tambun is under Sunway’s management so you can expect it to look and feel almost similar to Sunway Pyramid with an addition of its own unique attractions.

Plus, they even have spa services inside the theme park so mom and dad can pamper themselves after that long drive and unlike Sunway Pyramid, they have hot springs! Entertainment for the kids and pampering sessions for the adults? We say it is a must-go.

  • Colmar Tropicale, Pahang

Want to experience being in France with the family but don’t have the budget for it? Why not bring them to Colmare Tropicale instead? The best part is, it is only about 1-hour drive away from KL. The average price for a room there starts at RM140 or you can get the 2 days 1 night package from as low as RM122 per person from cuti.my.

This place is more than just French construction, they also have their very own animal park, Japanese Botanical Garden and an adventure park where you can do ziplining and at night after the kids have gone to bed, mom and dad could enjoy a romantic dinner in one of their restaurants.

  • Pulau Rawa, Johor Bahru

Not interested in going to theme parks and just want to relax with the family instead? Head to Pulau Rawa. Getting to Pulau Rawa is a bit tricky and you will definitely need to drive. The only way to get to the island is by driving to Mersing Jetty and once you’re there, you will have to wait for the hotel’s boat to pick you up.

That’s right, to preserve the island, there are only 2 hotels on the island and visitors can only stay a maximum of 3 days so book early. It sounds a little bit tedious but the beauty is second to none and you will definitely come home rejuvenated.
