Race starts in Monaco at 3:10 pm (9:10 pm in Malaysia) today

At Monaco, various teams paid tribute to Niki Lauda, the 3-time world champion who passed away earlier this week. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Motorsports team which had Lauda as its non-executive chairman, coloured the HALO protective structure on the cars red with messages on it as well as on the front of the car. Lewis Hamilton dedicated his pole position to Lauda, who was his mentor at the team.
Confusion in the Ferrari team placed Charles Leclerc at a disadvantage after qualifying 15th, worsened by Sebastian Vettel crashing although still able to make it to fourth place on the starting grid.
Grand Prix events have been run at Monaco since 1929 and being a street circuit, the narrow track makes overtaking difficult.
